CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — iManage, the company dedicated to Making Knowledge Work™, today announced that its next-generation platform will be generally available in October, following a successful early access program with law firms of every size, corporate legal departments, and financial institutions.
The iManage platform is built for where AI is heading. The next generation of AI isn’t just about generating answers; it’s about understanding the context in which knowledge exists and work gets done. Because the value of AI is only as good as the context it draws on, the next-generation platform creates an environment where AI can understand, act, and deliver value within the right knowledge, context, and controls.
“Every business is going through a transformation enabled by AI. It’s reshaping how they manage their data, the tools people use, and how they operate,” said Neil Araujo, CEO of iManage. “The organizations getting it right know AI has to reinforce their unique differentiation – while enabling safe and governed use, grounding it in rich context, optimizing token costs, and driving pervasive usage across the business. This is the foundation that we have built and will be available in October.”
Built on the iManage Context Fabric™
At the center of the platform is the iManage Context Fabric™, a governed intelligence layer that understands the complete, connected story of every matter or project, the documents, communications, parties, and relationships, enriched with relevant context from practice management and financial systems. Every answer draws on an organization’s own accumulated knowledge and traces back to it. Nothing is exported, information barriers are respected, and the AI model sees only what each user or agent is permitted to see, governed at every layer, so knowledge workers can focus on negotiation, strategy, and client counsel.
The platform, engineered for cloud scale, delivers a reimagined user experience that builds AI natively into everyday work. An open ecosystem connects governed knowledge and context to the AI tools of an organization’s choice, from Microsoft Copilot, Harvey, Legora, Thomson Reuters, Spellbook, ChatGPT Enterprise and Claude.
Open and Connected
The iManage MCP Server provides frictionless connectivity between compatible AI applications and an organization’s knowledge and context through governed access that respects the permissions, information barriers, and audit controls configured in iManage. With the next-gen platform the MCP server is being advanced to support agentic actions like creating workspaces, creating folders, filing, moving, and linking documents. AI-generated work product lands in the governed record matching the same permissions, audit trail, and lifecycle set in the matter or project. The value compounds over time, as the context fabric grows and sharpens results across an organization’s AI tools and new work product is written back into iManage, the context fabric deepens its understanding of each matter or project in real time.
AI-powered features now run throughout the platform, evolved from chat assistant capabilities into a context-aware legal assistant woven into the flow of work, answering questions across a matter’s documents, building chronologies, analyzing documents against an organization’s own playbooks, running tabular review across hundreds of documents at once, and filing its work product back where the organization’s knowledge lives. Every action happens within the guardrails the organization sets, so the assistant sees only what each user is permitted to see, and respects information barriers and access controls at every step.
Institutional Knowledge in Action
The early access program has shown what changes when AI is grounded in trusted context. Deal teams compare current drafts against negotiated precedents and playbooks to identify departures from established positions. Litigation teams assess how new evidence or expert reports align with or conflict with pleadings, testimony, and prior analysis across a matter. Advisors surface prior advice and work product addressing similar issues before counseling a client. In each case, professionals apply the organization’s accumulated knowledge to current work more quickly, without changing existing permissions or information barriers.
Scaling AI across an organization is as much about people as platform. To help every knowledge worker put these capabilities to work, iManage supports training and adoption through use iManage, pairing education and certification paths with a growing library of use case videos organized by practice area – from employment and labor, intellectual property, and litigation to M&A, real estate, and trusts and estates.
General Availability this October
The next-generation iManage platform will be generally available in October 2026. Playbook-based review, tabular review, and MCP read and write actions are available today.
